ADEC Response to Hurricane Katrina Aftermath The members of the Association for Death Education and Counseling extend our condolences and support to all the individuals and families affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. While meeting the immediate survival needs is essential, we also realize that there are immediate mental health needs as well as long-term needs for support because grief due to losses, not just death, takes more time and support than is commonly realized. See ADEC's Katrina Resources. Updated: March 7, 2006
