ADEC Board Nominations

ADEC is accepting nominations for several positions for the 2009 Board of Directors. The nomination deadline is October 15, 2009
Nominations should be sent to Chair of the Leadership Recruitment and Development Committee (LRDC), Heather L. Servaty-Seib at servaty@purdue.edu.

This year we are accepting positions for:

  • Second Vice President (one-year term)
    The Second Vice President automatically becomes the First Vice President for a one-year term, then President for a one-year term, and then Past-President for a one-year term.
  • Secretary (three-year term)
  • Three Members of the Board of Directors (three-year terms)
  • One Member of the Board of Director (one-year term)
  • One Member of the Leadership Recruitment and Development Committee (LRDC) (two-year term).

The qualifications for nominees for ADEC's Board of Directors are:

  • Has been an ADEC member for a minimum of THREE years
  • Has attended at least TWO ADEC conferences
  • Is committed to attend annual and mid-year board meetings at his/her own expense (Note:  Up to $500 of expenses to attend the mid-year board meeting in October will be reimbursed by ADEC. The annual board meeting is held in conjunction with the Annual Conference; the mid-year meeting is held in the Chicago area.)
  • Must have e-mail
  • May not have an obligation that would prevent attendance at the board meetings (Note: Missing two consecutive board meetings is considered a resignation)
  • Has been active on one or more ADEC committees
  • Has shown an interest in, knowledge of and enthusiasm for ADEC
  • Has agreed to serve if elected

The qualifications for Second Vice President are

All of the above, plus the candidate must previously have served either as chair of an ADEC committee and/or served as a member of the ADEC Board of Directors.  The Second Vice President becomes a member of the Board and must attend all Board meetings.

All individual, student and senior ADEC members are eligible to be nominated, as well as the Main Institutional member of the institutional membership.

All potential candidates should be asked by the nominator and must consent to being nominated before their names are submitted to the LRDC.

After all the nominations have been received, the LRDC will select nominees to appear on the ballot in accordance with Article IX, Section 2 of the Bylaws, which states: "The Committee shall place on the ballot one or more candidates for each of the positions to be elected. Selection shall be based on number of nominations, willingness to serve, and the needs of the Association."
