The Certification Exam

The next exam will be offered Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.
Application Deadline: Sept. 26, 2008

The certification exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will have three hours to complete the exam. All questions are based on the CT Content Outline and are documented to one of the Primary Texts and Specific Articles.

The primary texts that were chosen are:

  • Handbook of Thanatology: The Essential Body of Knowledge for the Study of Death, Dying, and Bereavement, David E. Balk, Carol Wogrin, Gordon Thornton, and David K. Meagher (editors), Northbrook, IL, ADEC Press. (2007). (Ordering information)
  • Death and Dying Life and Living, Charles A. Corr, Clyde M. Nabe, Donna M. Corr, 4th Edition 2003 Wadsworth, Thomson Learning Publishing Co.
  • The Last Dance: Encountering Death and Dying. Lynne Ann DeSpelder and Albert Lee Strickland, 7th Edition, McGraw Hill (2004)
