Annual Meeting Recorded Sessions Working in the Light: Building Resilience in the Workplace Stressed by Violence or Trauma Click here to preview this recorded session This workshop emphasizes a strength-based action approach to inform practitioners about resilience and to provide strategies to develop and strengthen resilience. A growing body of research suggests that the negative impact of stressful situations is reduced through behavioral strategies to strengthen five core elements of resilience. During the workshop, participants will develop their own individual resilience-strengthening plans. Learning Objectives:
About your instructor: Janice Harris Lord is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and professional counselor (LPC), and is the founder of Trauma Support Services of North Texas. She is a Fellow in Thanatology with the Association of Death Education and Counseling and is a member of the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. Janice has worked in the crime victims' field since 1976 and was National Director of Victim Services for Mothers Against Drunk Driving for 14 years. Author of No Time for Goodbyes: Coping with Sorrow, Anger and Injustice After a Tragic Death, Janice is a consultant for a number of crime victim organizations with special interest in caregiver resilience, trauma grief, and the role of spirituality in human services.
