What time does the webinar begin where I am?
Recently, a remarkable amount of attention was focused on a relatively minor part of health care reform proposals when a provision that would allow for physician reimbursement of discussions regarding end-of-life decisions was described as creating "death panels." The purpose of this presentation is to place end-of-life conversations with physicians in the context of advance care planning and describe several forms of advance directives. Concerns about these directives will be discussed, as will potential solutions. Advance care planning will be differentiated from "death panels" and "pulling the plug on Grandma." There will be ample time for questions.
