This grant opportunity was approved by ADEC’s Board of Directors in 2006 and is consistent with ADEC’s mission to promote excellence in death education, care of the dying, grief counseling and research in thanatology. Its creation was prompted by a groundswell of support among the membership for better linkage between research findings, theory development and practical application in caring for the dying and the bereaved. The grant opportunity is open both to ADEC members and to others in the professional community with an interest in integrating thanatology theory and research with clinical practice. ADEC President Jack LoCicero expressed hope that this grant award would lead to tangible progress in the care of the dying and bereaved in keeping with ADEC’s goal to remain in the forefront of developments in the field of thanatology.
