Maintenance of certification is required every three years. To maintain your certification, you must demonstrate continuing education in thanatology-related subjects with a minimum of 45 contact hours in the three-year period preceding your expiration date. This must be submitted, along with the recertification fee, by November 15 in the third year of an individual’s certification cycle. After November 15, certification will lapse and no longer be valid. No exceptions will be made. If your certification lapses, you will be required to take the CT® exam to become recertified.
Those Certified in Thanatology (CT) may choose either of these options:
Those who are Fellows in Thanatology (FT) can maintain their credential for another three years by recertifying online (view guidelines).
For additional certification information, including fees for CT®, FT® and recertification, contact ADEC's Credentialing Administrator.
