How Community Tragedies Impact Grief
With Patti Anewalt, PhD, LPC, FT
Recorded November 2018
Community tragedies over the last twenty years have shaped our society’s understanding of grief, loss and mourning. Conversely, as our understanding has changed, so too has our response – individually, organizationally, and nationally. Drawing from her experiences and considering recent national disasters, Dr. Anewalt will talk about the unique aspects of grief when community tragedies occur. Common themes and issues from community tragedies will be explored. Community tragedies have both a short and long term societal impact and an impact on special populations - children, the elderly, and hospice patients. The presenter will identify appropriate interventions for addressing the grief from community tragedies.
