2021 Conference FAQ Guide
What are the conference dates? 
April 6-10, 2021. The primary Conference days are Thursday, April 8 – Saturday, April 10, with optional Pre-Conference sessions being offered April 6 & 7. 

What is the time zone of Conference? 
The Conference is scheduled in Eastern time zone. 

What is the conference schedule? 
View the conference schedule online. This is an overview; further information will continue to be made available and ADEC’s website will be updated accordingly. Review the concurrent session details here.

How do I register?  
Register for conference online. Early bird rates are available until February 19 at 5:00pm EST. Registration closes April 5. 

What is Pre-Conference? 
Pre-Conference offers participants further educational opportunities leading up to Conference. There are two different options: Professional Development Courses and Specialty Workshops. CEUs can be earned for both. The Professional Development courses (link) provide participants the chance to deepen their knowledge in an environment tailored to their current level of experience in the field. Attendees spend two days with some of the finest minds in thanatology and enjoy a unique and inspiring learning experience. Professional Development Courses take place on Tues., April 6 and Wed., April 7. It is a two-day course. The Specialty Workshops (link) offer a variety of in-depth topics related to the field of thanatology. There is one full-day workshop and three different half-day workshops to choose from. Specialty Workshops take place on Wed, April 7. 

How do I register for Pre-Conference? 
Registration for Pre-Conference is available online as part of the Conference registration. Please note: You can only register for a Professional Development Course OR a Specialty Workshop; you cannot do both. You can, however, choose one AM Specialty Workshop and one PM Specialty Workshop. 

What do I need to attend the conference virtually? 
To attend the virtual conference, you need a good internet connection, your device or computer, and a valid registration. You will receive login & access details a few days prior to the conference. 

What platform will ADEC be using for its virtual conference? 
Whova is the virtual platform ADEC will be using to host the conference. Whova has both a web platform and mobile app. Attendees are encouraged to use both throughout conference. This is the same mobile app that has been used in the past at ADEC’s in-person conferences. Zoom will also be utilized for meetings and networking sessions. 

Can I earn CEUs at Conference? 
Yes, you can earn up to 22.5 CEUs by attending the live Conference sessions and their recordings. Conference session recordings will be available for viewing until May 30, 2021. By participating in Pre-Conference sessions, you can earn up to 10 CEUs. There is an additional one-time cost ($75 for ADEC members & $100 for non-members) to receive your continuing education credits, for both Conference & Pre-Conference. Attendees must purchase CEUs no later than April 10View ADEC's Accreditation Information.
In addition to the conference content outlined, you will also have access to ADEC’s library of on-demand, pre-recorded sessions for additional educational content. These additional sessions (42 total) can be watched by participants at any time from April 1 – May 30, 2021. Participants cannot receive CEUs for any of the on-demand, pre-recorded sessions, but there will be the option for a Certification of Attendance, which is an acceptable option for ADEC's CT/FT application & renewal requirements. You will be provided with a list of the pre-recorded presentations where you can record the sessions you attend and report this total number of hours on your Certificate of Attendance. You will need to keep this list of sessions and certificate for use for ADEC's CT/FT application or renewal. These documents are NOT being tracked by ADEC. 

How do I obtain my CEUs and Certificates of Attendance?
Information on how to obtain CEUs and Certificates of Attendance will be provided as we get closer to conference, as well as during Conference week to all participants. View ADEC's Accreditation Information.

When will we receive access information? 
You will receive login & access details a few days prior to the conference. 

How many concurrent sessions will be offered? 
During each concurrent session time slot, there will be three different live presentations. Participants will not register for sessions in advance, so will be able to join whichever session they would like to on the day-of. Review the concurrent session details here.

What if I miss a session? Will recordings be available? 
The virtual format offers great flexibility. All live presentations will be recorded and made available to view 24-48 hours following the live session.  

Will there be other sessions to view? 
Yes, there will be an on-demand library of approx. 45 pre-recorded sessions for Conference participants to watch at any time from April 1 - May 30, 2021. Additionally, there will be a designated time each day of conference to give participants the opportunity to connect with the presenters of these on-demand sessions and ask any questions. How can we network & connect with our colleagues online? 
There will be a variety of networking opportunities available for conference participants. Whova, the conference platform, has a Community Forum and attendee profiles, making it easier than ever to connect with fellow conference attendees, participate in online discussions and plan virtual meet-ups, dinners or social hours. ADEC will also be hosting multiple topic and region-based networking sessions, as well as the welcome networking reception.  
 
My time zone doesn’t line up with the conference schedule; how can I participate?  
To further engage our conference participants from across the world, special networking sessions will be scheduled during times that appeal to those in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Additionally, all the program sessions will be recorded and available to view at a time that works better with your schedule.
