2022 Building Bridges Through Loss: The Grief of Children & Adolescents

The Association for Death Education and Counseling's (ADEC) 3rd Annual Half-Day, Virtual Workshop: Building Bridges Through Loss. Our 2022 focus is The Grief of Children and Adolescents. We are honored to feature Dr. J. William Worden, whose keynote presentation addresses Working with Bereaved Families: Findings from the Harvard Child Bereavement Study. A panel discussion will follow: Addressing the Unique Needs of Children and Adolescents Facing Grief. Three (3.0) CE's are available.

Join us on Saturday, December 3rd for ADEC's 2022 Annual Virtual Half-Day Workshop, "Building Bridges Through Loss."  Our 2022 theme is "The Grief of Children and Adolescents."

ADEC is greatly honored to feature Dr. J. William Worden, PhD, ABPP, whose keynote address is entitled Working with Bereaved Families: Findings from the Harvard Child Bereavement Study.

Dr. Worden's session will be followed by a panel discussion titled Addressing the Unique Needs of Children and Adolescents Facing Grief. Our panel leaders include Tashel Bordere, Betty Davies, Linda Goldman, and Andrea Warnick. 

  • Our workshop will begin with our annual mid-year Presidential "Wolfe" Report, by Dr. Andy Ho, ADEC President April 2022-2023.
  • Our workshop moderator will be Dr. Rebecca Morse, ADEC Past President April 2020-2021.
  • We will end with a 30 minute community "Bridge" networking session to share what we have learned and will apply in our thanatology roles.

  • Join ADEC President Andy Ho, as he welcomes everyone virtually and shares a mid-year update about new and ongoing initiatives ADEC has been working on since our full Conference in April 2022.

  • Title: Working with Bereaved Families: Findings from the Harvard Child Bereavement Study
  • Presenter: J. William Worden, PhD, ABPP
  • As Co-Principal Investigator, Dr. Worden will detail the clinical implications of this critical and timeless longitudinal investigation of 125 bereaved school-age children who lost a parent to death. He will describe factors that influence the course and outcome of a child's adjustment to loss and will contrast children most likely to be at risk for poor adaptation with more resilient survivors.
